Volunteer With Us

Our clinics are entirely run by volunteers! We are delighted to welcome UC Davis undergraduate and veterinary students and CA licensed veterinarians.

How to Volunteer:

  • Veterinarians: Contact us at MercerClinicPets@gmail.com to be added to our monthly recruitment email list.

  • Veterinary students: Look for volunteer recruitment emails each month. For those interested in leadership roles, club officer recruitment for the following school year takes place in the early spring.

  • Undergraduate students: Contact the undergraduate coordinators at mercer.undergrad.contact@gmail.com

Volunteer duties include:

  • Veterinarians work with veterinary students to complete their cases. This includes ensuring a complete history and physical exam are performed, guiding the students through case work-up, and creating a treatment and follow-up plan.

    • Must have a valid CA DVM license.

    • Veterinarians frequently collaborate on cases and advise each other.

  • Veterinary students work in teams with other veterinary and undergraduate students to obtain histories and perform physical exams. After presenting the case to a veterinarian, students carry out diagnostic and treatment plans.

  • Undergraduate students assist the veterinary students and veterinarians, including providing patient restraint and scribing medical notes. Undergraduate students are also involved with dispensing vaccines and parasite preventatives and processing records.
